In addition to be being an accomplished guitarist, Teja writes about guitar-related subjects, and he is a co-founder and producer of Peghead Nation. From 1997 to 2013, he was an editor at Acoustic Guitar magazine, where he wrote hundreds of articles, ranging from guitar reviews, stories on luthiers and instrument trends, to travelogues, artist profiles and lessons on playing the guitar. As the magazine’s Gear Editor, he visited all major manufacturers of acoustic guitars in the US and Canada, and several in Europe, and interviewed luthiers from around the world. Since his departure from Acoustic Guitar, Teja has also written for Guitar Player, Premier Guitar, Ukulele, Fretboard Journal, InTune, Gitarre & Bass (Germany), and Akustik Gitarre (Germany). Artists that Teja has interviewed include John McLaughlin,Tommy Emmanuel, Patrick Simmons, Leo Kottke, John Renbourn, Bert Jansch, Martin Simpson, Laurence Juber, Pierre Bensusan, Peter Finger, Adam Levy, David Tanenbaum, Sergio Assad, Preston Reed, Kaki King, Andy McKee, and many more.

In 2014, Teja co-founded Peghead Nation, an online e-learning environment with video instruction for guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, ukulele, and dobro. In his role as the company’s producer, Teja shoots and edits the website’s video content, hosts the Advanced Fingerstyle Workshop, demos instruments, and writes copy.

Teja is also the author of Backbeat Book’s The Taylor Guitar Book: 40 Years of Great American Flattops, which was published in 2015. In addition, Teja co-authored Akustische Gitarren, which was published by Germany’s G.C. Carstensen Verlag, with Teja being the primary author (along with Michael Simmons, Frank Ford, and Richard Johnston) and project coordinator (Hal Leonard released a licensed English language version of the title in 2005). Another book project completed in 2003 included several contributions to the Acoustic Guitars: The Illustrated Encyclopedia, published by Thunder Bay Press. Teja contributed a chapter on advanced fingerstyle techniques to Backbeat Books’ title Play Acoustic in 2005. Teja was the assistant editor for Custom Guitars, A Complete Guide to Contemporary Handcrafted Guitars, published by String Letter Publishing, and he wrote the book’s chapter on specialty guitars. Other String Letter Publishing books featuring Teja’s contributions include The Acoustic Guitar Owner’s Manual, and Performing Acoustic Music. Teja served as a consultant for The Tipbook Company’s title Acoustic Guitar, and his English/German translation services have been used by companies including Acoustic Music Records, Mesa Engineering, Pagelli Guitars, Saga Musical Instruments, and Synthesis Publications.
